Ten years ago, when I lived in
My doctor had no idea what to do for me and told me I’d just have to live with the discomfort. I was 27 at the time and I was horrified at the thought of living the rest of my years in pain. This is when a friend of the family suggested massage because it did wonders for her when she couldn’t raise her arm more than shoulder-high. I had never received bodywork before and the only images of massage I had in my mind were of a sensual nature. I spoke with my doctor about massage and he said it wouldn’t hurt, but he didn’t hold out much hope for any sort of recovery. Within three months, I was pain free! (Thank you Cathi Danube, LMT!)
For me, massage was a miracle. Prior to my accidents, I had nagging low back pain. Since introducing massage into my life, I haven’t had chronic pain in my body. I’ve been an advocate of massage ever since, suggesting it to people when I’d hear them speak about their body discomforts.
When I was in NYC working as a Marketing Director for Bauer Publishing Magazines (In Touch Weekly, First for Women, Woman’s World, Twist, J-14, M), I came across an open house for the massage program at the Swedish Institute while reading the paper during my morning subway commute. I went to the event later that week and started the enrollment process that night.
While family and friends were a little concerned about me stepping away from the corporate world I’d known for more than a decade, I know that this path is right for me. Since completing the massage program, I’ve expanded my knowledge base with various continuing education programs and have had wonderful opportunities and countless hours working with a top-rated spa in the metro
Of course, I’ve always dreamt of being my own boss, so I finally took the leap and started my own studio space – Atlanta Therapeutic Massage.
My goal is to help you live happy, healthy and well. Call today to see how massage can enhance your life.
